Everyone's day should start with a view like this - I'm not rubbing anything in, I promise, mine didn't either. Mine was overcast with some rain - but that's what pictures are for, right?!?
Anyways, for the pictures that were left out from the post prior. This was the entrance to Sigatoka A/E. Interestingly enough, all of the nearby hotels and resorts funded this department, so unlike many of the other A/E's the residents are stationed at - this one has portable chest x-ray and ultrasound - although somewhat dated. Vested interest? It doesn't help the residents, however, that they haven't had instruction in its use - until now!
The donors' wall - the warwick, shangri-la, outrigger...etc

Hospital and A/E in Nadi
The waiting room
The resus room in Nadi -as with the ones in Suva, it noticeably has only portable oxygen tanks at the bedside - as I've found in Suva, fingers crossed they have anything in them! Also each bed, as with the other A/E's we've seen - there is no wall suction, only portable suction. As mentioned before - no ventilators in the A/E. And out of the 2 defibrillators in the resuscitation rooms in Suva - hope to grab the one that has a working defibrillator, the other is broken. Needless to say, these residents face some interesting obstacles and challenges throughout their days! One that we dealt with today was ordering a urine pregnancy test. Pretty standard for us in Texas - here, if it's during the week, they have to ask permission to run the test from pharmacy. If it's the weekend - the pharmacist isn't in - so it's not even an option. Forget scanning anyone on the weekends, too - CT isn't open. So, you adapt and do your best!
